Rapid Install. Efficient Handling. No Wastage.
As part of the Manor Farm Overbridge project, Beaver Bridges required a durable and aesthetically pleasing decking solution that could serve a dual purpose: forming both the main deck and the vertical deck edges of the bridge. This overbridge was classed as an architectural structure for a private client, meaning that durability was just as important as a high-quality visual finish. While steel was initially considered for the decking system, concerns over corrosion and long-term maintenance led Beaver Bridges to seek an alternative solution.
After careful evaluation, Mekina was selected as the preferred supplier due to its reputation for delivering robust, corrosion-resistant, and visually appealing products that could meet the demanding requirements of the project. Mekina supplied a tailored range of Mek-Dek 50/150 and 60/150 panels, designed with varying panel heights and rib centres to precisely match the design parameters of the bridge deck and its supporting structure.
Mek-Dek Standard GRP panels were chosen not only for their competitive price and durability but also for their ability to provide a clean, crisp edge definition on the vertical deck edges, which was a critical aesthetic feature for the architectural overbridge. Compared to steel, Mek-Dek panels offered superior corrosion resistance, significantly reducing future maintenance needs and extending the lifespan of the structure.
The completed bridge has a sophisticated finish supported by a highly durable and reliable soffit solution. Our collaborative approach enabled efficient problem-solving and helped deliver a solution that aligned with both technical specifications and project timelines.
