Mekina Industries is pleased to be supplying its specialist Mek-Dek GRP permanent formwork panels to HS2 to support bridge decks during concrete pours as leave-in-place or sacrificial formwork.

High Speed 2 (HS2) is a high-speed railway project in the United Kingdom that aims to connect major cities and improve transportation infrastructure. The project includes the construction of more than 500 bridging structures including rail bridges, viaducts, overbridges and footbridges.

Although innovative, the use of GRP permanent formwork is now a tried and tested part of the bridge construction process which saves time and reduces costs versus forming bridge structures using ‘traditional formwork,’ which is labour and material-intensive.

By selecting Mekina Industries to supply HS2, the project is able to tap into the company’s niche and specialist skills in GRP permanent formwork as well as our agility in manufacture, leading to increased efficiency in project delivery.
